Civil Engineering (Environment)
- Definition: the Master of Science in “Environmental Civil Engineering”, is an education-research program with more emphasis on education, including theoretical, practical, and laboratory courses, in addition to research schemes to hone the knowledge and pave the ground for understanding, expanding, and applying the prevailing techniques in Civil Engineering, Environment field.
- The purpose of this M.Sc. program is to train graduates who not only are sufficiently capable of designing and supervising proper professional projects in various focuses of this field, but also possess the ability to conduct the necessary research for finding solutions to the country’s environmental issues. Following is an allusion to some of this major’s professional projects:
- Recognition and control of water, soil, and air sources pollution
- Designing the urban, rural, and industrial water and sewer systems
- Controlling the pollution caused by solid waste materials
- Planning and managing the execution of environmental programs, etc.
- Job prospects: in other countries of the world, the people related to this field play a significant role in governmental organizations and society of course, in protecting the environment. Regarding the fact that this major is a new-developing field in comparison with other civil majors, and it is multidimensional, a bright future is expected for it. The graduates of this major have the opportunity to be employed in governmental organizations, such as the Department of Environment, municipalities, Water and Wastewater Companies, Air Quality Control Companies, the Ministry of Interior, etc. as well as active private companies in this field, in the future. At the time being, according to the approved laws of the country, no national macro-projects may be executed unless the precise “evaluation of environmental influences” is conducted. It is worth mentioning that compared with other majors, graduate admissions for this major in developed countries are more likely.
